Abstract

This study has two major purposes: 1) trying to figure out improvement needs based on agreement-performance levels and differences of supervisors who are charged for the consulting supervision, 2) accordingly, attempting to derive implications for a successful consulting supervision. After conducting a survey research about dimensions of purpose, management, and performance of the consulting supervision, the results show high level of agreement-performance on purpose whereas different levels on management and performance. Especially, this study found relatively low level of agreement-performance on two particular elements: 1) securement of the consultant’s expertise and independency which are the major keys for the success of the consulting supervision, 2) clients’ autonomous participation. This study found low level of agreement about direct management and support on the consultant from the educational office and the supervisors. Also, this study found that supervisors should need to make more efforts for project resolution and quality improvement of class and school, development of client’s expertise, distinction their roles from the home-school-supervision. Supervisors also should work hard for time securement, development of consultant’s expertise, support and supervision from the educational office, and drawing client’s autonomous participation and accordingly learning opportunity through management by process of the consulting. In conclusion, building consulting supervision management system and changing of supervisors' perception is required and two conditions should be necessary: 1) a clear classification of task range and role regulation between supervisor and consultant, 2) the teacher expertise development centered development supervision applying from school consulting principle rather than management centered supervision borrowing from method and process of school consulting.
