초록

This study was conducted to confirm the moisturizing effect of germinated brown rice extract (GBRE) as a functional ingredient with increased GABA content. To assess its efficacy, the levels of Hyaluronic acid (HA) and aquaporin-3 (AQP3) protein were measured in HaCaT cells. Additionally, a clinical test using a toner formulation was performed on 23 participants to measure changes in skin moisture content. To verify the safety of GBRE-containing products, heavy metal and microbial contents were evaluated in a soap formulation. Quantitative analysis of protein expression for HA and AQP3 showed that 200 ppm of GBRE in a blueberry medium resulted in high levels comparable to those of the positive control (retinoic acid). In the clinical moisturizing evaluation, all GBRE media formulations increased skin moisture content after application, with a significant increase observed in the group treated with GBRE in black ginseng medium. No microorganisms or heavy metals were detected in the soaps containing GBRE. These results indicated that GBRE exhibits effective moisturizing properties both in vitro and in clinical experiments. With its enhanced GABA content, GBRE has promising potential as a functional ingredient for use in cosmetics or food products with moisturizing effects.
