Abstract

This study was a descriptive survey designed to identify the influence of grit and job stress on health-promoting behavior among nurses in comprehensive nursing care units. From March 1 to March 30, 2025, data were collected from 123 nurses working in comprehensive nursing care units in D City. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Statistics 25.0 program. The results showed that health-promoting behavior differed significantly by marital status (t = –2.89, p = .005). In addition, health-promoting behavior was significantly correlated with grit (r = .285, p = .001) and job stress (r = –.295, p = .001). The factors influencing health-promoting behavior were being married (β = –.18, p = .036), grit (β = .18, p = .040), and job stress (β = –.19, p = .033); together, these variables explained 13.7% of the variance (adjusted R² = 0.137). These findings suggest that, to enhance the health-promoting behaviors of nurses in comprehensive nursing care service wards, it is necessary to establish support measures specifically for married nurses who demonstrated lower levels of health-promoting behaviors, and to develop individual-level intervention programs to strengthen grit, along with organizational-level support for job stress management.
