Abstract
This study presents the synthesis and characterization of ultra-light Cf/SiC composite fiber designed for high-temperature applications. High-purity SiC coatings were produced through a carbon reduction reaction in a SiC gas environment combined with chemical vapor reaction (CVR) heat treatment. By adjusting reaction parameters, the crystallinity and thickness of the SiC layer were effectively controlled, leading to improved oxidation resistance and thermal stability. Microstructural analysis revealed that reaction conditions strongly influenced the growth of specific SiC crystal planes. These findings demonstrate that tailoring reaction parameters allows optimization of Cf/SiC composites for demanding environments. Overall, the results highlight the potential of these composites as lightweight, thermally robust materials for aerospace structures and other high-temperature applications requiring reliable thermal protection and oxidation resistance.
