Abstract
Objectives: Hemiplegia with adult stroke patients could experience difficulties while body balance and gait movement. Conventional rehabilitation exercise training might be ineffective, as it can be not gaiting and lead to minimal improvements. In particular, no comprehensive studies have investigated the intervention time of rehabilitation exercise and analysis of gait performance in adult male stroke hemiplegia patients. Patients and Methods: Body balance abilities(static balance ability, dynamic balance abilities) and gait functional movement was measured in 20 adult stroke hemiplegia patients. They were divided into the EREG(early rehabilitation exercise, n=10) and a CG(control group, n=10). Twenty adult stroke hemiplegia patients were exercised with early rehabilitation exercise program for 60 min a day, five times per week for 8 weeks. Body balance abilities(Static balance: SB; Dynamic balance: DB) were measured using a one-leg standing test and balance system(BIODEX Medical System, USA) before and after testing. Gait functional movement were measured using a Gait analysis program(GaitRite gait analyzer, CIR system, Inc, USA) before and after testing. Statistical analyses were performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: Participants with adult stroke hemiplegia showed significantly improved static balance(p<0.000), dynamic balance(OSI, p<0.009; APSI, p<0.017; MLSI, p<0.037). gait analysis(right: temporal step time: p<0.001, temporal cycle time: p<0.000,temporal double support time: p<0.000; left: temporal step time:p<0.001,temporal cycle time: p<0.000, temporal double support time: p<0.000) after completing the early rehabilitation exercise program. We recorded significant short term effects of the early rehabilitation exercise program on balance and gait function in patients with adult stroke hemiplegia injury, suggesting the sustatinable inclusion of gait and balance program in early rehabilitation interventions.
