자수기법 칠보수(七寶繡)에 관한 연원문제 - 칠보(七寶)와 칠보문(七寶紋)과의 관계를 중심으로 -
A Study on the origin of the embroidery technique Chilbosu(七寶繡) - Based on the relationship between Chilbo(七寶) and Chilbo-Mun(七寶紋)

Chilbosu(七寶繡) is an embroidery technique to make an abstract geometric pattern, also known as Chilbo(七寶). The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between Chilbo in Chilbosu and cloisonne buddha statues and to investigate the origin of Chilbosu. Based on the reviews of the changing process of seven jewels of Chakaravartin(轉輪聖王) and the meanings of Chilbomun (七寶紋) in Korea and China, Chilbosu has redefined the meaning as well as the term. Buddhist texts and Buddhist artworks in China and India were analyzed. Chilbo is changed into Chilbomun, which adds auspicious signs to the original, religious meaning. The meaning of Chilbomun is enhanced, and the design was simplified. It was called many different names and was described in a broad term. Therefore, there was no relationship between Chilbo in Chilbosu and cloisonne buddha statues. The main contribution of this study is to discuss that Net-stitch(網繡), which is similar to Chilbosu, was used in ancient Korea and China.
