Abstract
This study aimed to develop a systematic tool for analyzing online class interactions to improve the quality of online classes in higher education. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive review of domestic and foreign literature on online class interaction was conducted, leading to classification of online class interaction into six types: ‘instructor-content’, ‘instructor-learner’, ‘learner-learner’, ‘learner-content’, ‘learner internal’, and ‘instructor internal’. Additionally, fundamental questions based on these six interaction types were composed based on the literature review, in-depth interviews with higher education instructors and an analysis of interview data from exemplary online class instructors. A preliminary analysis tool was subsequently developed and the formulated questions were assessed by two experts. The tool unerwent two reounds of testing to verify its internal validity with six experts, after whiich was revised and refiend. Additionally, a usability evaluation was conducted with six experts to assess the practicality of the tool following internal validity verification. Finally, the study discussess the significance and implications of the developed analysis tool in relation to online class interactions in higher education. It also explores effective implementation strategies for higher education and class consultation, along with the necessity of further research on interaction-related aspects of online learning.
