대학 글쓰기 평가방법과 실태 연구

이 글에서는 대학 글쓰기 교육에 있어서 평가의 의미와 그 측정 대상으로서 글쓰기 능력에 관한 이해를 첫 번째 논의 과제로 다루었다. 그리고 이에 근거하여 현재 대학 글쓰기 강좌의 평가 실태를 분석함으로써 향후 평가방법의 개발과정에 참조점을 제시하고자 했다. 글쓰기 관련 강좌들의 강의계획서 평가 항목을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 사실들을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 평가범주 혹은 평가항목이 파편적으로 나열되어 있어 평가방법으로서의 유기적인 연결성과 일관성이 부족하다. 둘째, 글쓰기 과목으로서의 특성을 충분히 고려한 평가 기준이 부재하다. 셋째, 평가 기준이 지나치게 추상적이어서 학습자가 평가 기준을 인지하기 쉽지 않다. 넷째, 평가방법과 평가방식의 구분이 모호하다. 다섯째, 평가 결과가 이후 학습에 어떻게 피드백되고 활용되는지에 대한 정보를 학습자가 얻기 어렵다. 이러한 문제적 상황을 타개하기 위해서는 평가 대상으로서 대학 글쓰기 능력에 요구되는 바가 무엇인지에 대한 광범위한 논의가 우선적으로 전제되어야 한다. 그리고 다수의 평가 사례 분석을 통해 학술적 글쓰기 능력을 정확히 측정할 수 있는 평가방법과 평가방식을 도출해내야 할 것이다.
Abstract
As a first task this study dealt with the problem of assessment meaning and writing ability in college writing education. It helped to analyze the actual condition of assessment related with courses in Korean college writing. By using this result this study intended to suggest the references for developing advanced assessment methods. That analysis is as follows. First, categories or items for assessment were not presented logically, socoherence and connectivity among them were not noticed as a assessment method. Second, there were not standards reflecting sufficiently the qualities of a writing subject. Third, it is difficult for students to recognize the assessment standards which are extremely abstract. Forth, the distinction between method and test for assessment is vague. Fifth, it is almost impossible for students to understand how assessment results are fed into following study. To improve this assessment situation on college writing education, it is needed preferentially to research what writing abilities are and the assessment methods and tests which can estimate exactly them should be deduced from it.
