본 논문의 목적은 민주주의 확산을 설명하기 위한 분석모형을 구축하는 것이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 첫째, 민주주의 연구에서 공간적 확산의 요인을 고려한 기존의 연구들을 방법론적으로 검토하였다. 둘째, 선행연구에 있어서 대내외적 변수들을 규명하고 확산효과의 측정에 대해 평가하였다. 셋째, 확산효과 측정을 위해 프로빗모형을 도입하고 비교지역연구에 대한 이론적방법론적 함의를 제시하였다.
Abstract
This article reviews some researches that reveal the correlation between spatial aspects of democratic diffusion explicitly aimed at uncovering diffusion effects. The researches provide empirical evidence of spatial correlation of democracy. This also analized methodological strategies in empirical research to understand research trends. It reviewed some researches on the diffusion of democracy in three ways. First, this article examined the claim that exiting researches addressed. Second, this explored the methodological stratigies applied to cases. Third, this article presents theoretical and methodological implications to studies on diffusion of democracy in that it reviews an empirical analysis using probit model.
