본 연구는 통계청의 경제활동인구 8월 부가조사(2004, 2010)를 이용하여 최저임금변화가 여성 임금근로자의 임금불평등에 미치는 효과를 반사실적(counterfactual) 임금분포 모형을 이용하여 분석한다. 민감도 분석 결과 최저임금의 상승이 상대적으로 낮은 임금을 받는 근로자의 임금상승을 통해 가지는 임금불평등 완화효과가 관찰되지 않았다. 이는 최저임금 이하를 받는 근로자 중에서 비공식부문(informal sector)에 종사하는 근로자의 비중이 높기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
To evaluate the marginal effects of the minimum wage and other labor market conditions on female wage inequality, we estimate counterfactual wage distribution using the Economically Active Population Surveys of 2004 and 2010. We find that the rising minimum wage has an ambiguous effect on female wage inequality. We suspect that the significant share of female workers in the informal sector weakens the effect of minimum wages on female wage inequality, which calls for further studies.
