본 연구는 한국노동연구원의 한국노동패널조사 자료를 활용하여 최저임금 급격한 인상이 성별 임금격차에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 최저임금의 급격한 인상이 일어난 2017년과 2018년과 비슷한 시기 비교적 낮은 최저임금 인상률을 보인 2019년과 2020년 최저임금 영향집단의 성별 임금차이를 이중차분분석으로 비교하였으며 최저임금 영향집단과 미만집단, 차상위임금집단으로 구분하여 최저임금 영향권에 있는 집단을 함께 분석하였다. 그 결과 최저임금의 증가가 성별 임금격차를 가중하는 결과를 보여 최저임금의 인상이 성별 임금격차에 유의미한 영향을 주지 못한다는 결론을 도출하였다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the effect of a rapid increase in the minimum wage on the gender wage gap using data from the Korea Labor Institute's Korea Labor Panel Survey. A Difference-in-Differences analysis(DID) was used to compare the gender wage differences between the groups affected by the minimum wage in 2019 and 2020, which showed a relatively low minimum wage increase rate at a similar time to 2017 and 2018, when the minimum wage increased sharply, and the groups in the sphere of influence of the minimum wage were analyzed together. As a result, the increase in the minimum wage increased the gender wage gap, leading to the conclusion that the increase in the minimum wage did not have a significant effect on the gender wage gap.
