탈서구적 관점에서 본 트랜스휴머니즘 대응 전략
A Study on the Proactive Strategy for Transhumanism from the Perspective of the Post-Eurocentrism

미래의 사회변화를 암시하는 주요 통찰은 여전히 북미와 서유럽 등 서구 세계에서얻을 수 있다는 믿음은 우리 사회에서 여전하다. 국내에서 발간되는 많은 미래 보고서들은 대부분 외국 사례에 의존하고 있다. 이 연구는 탈서구적 노력의 하나로트랜스휴머니즘을 역사적으로 고찰하고, 미래학에서 사용하고 있는 연구방법론인 원인다층분석법을 활용하여 서구 사회와 한국 사회의 트랜스휴머니즘에 대하여 비교, 고찰하였다. 트랜스휴머니즘은 공학적, 생물학적 조작을 통해 인간이 지적, 육체적, 감성적 증강을 꾀해 불필요한 고통이나 병에서 해방되어 장수를 누리려는 운동으로 정의된다. 분석 결과, 표상적 단계에서 서구 사회는 트랜스휴먼의등장을 디지털화로 파악하는 반면, 한국 사회는 트랜스휴머니즘과 관련된 개념 및기원과 기존 사상과의 차별점을 탐색하였다. 사회구조적 수준에서 서구 사회는 트랜스휴먼 기술을 확산하고 확대하는 문화적, 사회적 시스템의 구축을 강조한 반면, 한국 사회는 4차 산업혁명이나 경제위기에 대응하는 기술로 트랜스휴머니즘의 가능성을 탐색하고 있다. 세계 보편적 수준에서 서구 사회는 트랜스휴머니즘이라는 담론을 통해 인간중심주의의 탈피, 인간과 기계의 경계 모호화 등을 거론한반면, 우리 사회는 과학기술이 이끌어 가는 사회가 매우 위험하다며 과학기술중심주의를 비판한다. 문화·심리적 수준에서 서구 사회는 인류의 멸망, 종말론적 시각 등에서 트랜스휴머니즘의 위험성을 경고한 반면, 우리 사회는 생존이냐 멸종이냐는 이분법적 시각보다 인간과 트랜스휴먼, 인공지능과 관계를 상호보완적, 상호호혜적으로 보는 시각을 허용한다. 이 연구는 외생적 변화에 대한 대안적 전략을탈서구적 관점에서 본 트랜스휴머니즘 대응 전략 233 내놓을 때 기존의 순응과 저항의 전략뿐 아니라 역전의 전략, 혼융의 전략, 해체적전략에 더욱 집중할 필요가 있음도 덧붙여 제안한다.
Abstract
This study examines transhumanism as one of the efforts for post- Eurocentrism and compares the transhumanism of Western society and Korean society by using the causal layered analysis, which is a research methodology used in the field of futures studies. Transhumanism is defined as a movement in which humans are encouraged to intellectual, physical, and emotional enhancement through engineering and biological manipulation, freed from unnecessary pain or illness and enjoy longevity. As a result of the analysis, Western society grasped the emergence of transhuman as digitization at the litany level, while Korean society searched for differences between concepts and origins related to transhumanism and existing ideas. At a social structural level, Western society emphasizes the establishment of a cultural and social system that spreads and expands transhuman technology, while Korean society explores the possibility of transhumanism with technology to cope with the fourth industrial revolution or economic crisis. At a world view level, Western society has discussed the separation of humanism and the ambiguity of human and machine boundaries through the discourse of transhumanism, while Korean society criticizes science and technology centering on society. At a cultural psychological level, Western societies warn of the danger of transhumanism in the destruction and es탈서구적관점에서 본 트랜스휴머니즘 대응 전략 235 chatological view of mankind, while Korean society allows a view of human and transhuman, artificial intelligence and relationships as complementary and mutually reciprocal rather than a dichotomous view of survival or extinction of the humanity. In addition, the study suggests that when we present alternative strategies for exogenous change, we need to focus more on the strategy of reversal, the strategy of fusion, and the deconstructive strategy as well as the existing compliance and resistance strategies.
