Abstract
The article attempts to explore the meaning of the fourth industrial revolution through a perspective of Humanity 2.0, in which humans try to transform their body and mind in order to set them free from unnecessary sufferings and to extend life span by developing and making widely available technologies. For this purpose, the article utilizes four images of the future, which have been initiated and developed by Hawaii Research Center for Futures Studies. Among the four images of the future, it can be argued that transformational society enriches understanding of the fourth industrial revolution. Transformational society addresses why and how the current humans would be transhumans who are believed to live in the era of Humanity 2.0. Through the lens of Humanity 2.0, the article asserts that the fourth industrial revolution is on the way of transhuman society, and the vision of the fourth industrial revolution should focus on the well-being of the humanity and human dignity.
