폭력성 범죄의 예측가능성에 관한 연구 - 연쇄살인사례를 중심으로

많은 연쇄살인범들에게서 어린 시절의 좌절과 함께 방화와 동물학대의 전력이 발견되고 있다. 이 연구의 사례에서 살펴본 모든 연쇄살인범들도 어린 시절 부모로부터 매우 심한 학대와 상처를 입었고, 그로인해 생성된 좌절을 탈피하기 위해 방화나 동물학대를 자행하고 있다. 결과적으로 아동·청소년기의 방화나 동물학대는 어린시절의 좌절에서 기원하며, 또한 연쇄살인과 중대한 상관관계에 있을 가능성이 높아 보인다. 사실이 이와 같다면 이러한 성장배경과 문제성향을 가진 소년들을 그냥 방치할 경우 통제불능의 공격성을 가진 성인으로 성장할 개연성 또한 높다 할 것이다. 따라서 연속선상에 있는 어린 시절의 좌절과 방화 및 동물학대, 그리고 연쇄살인의 상관관계에 대한 학계의 관심과 심도 깊은 연구가 요구되며, 소년분류심사원을 비롯한 교정시설 관계자들은 문제성 있는 가정환경과 함께 방화와 동물학대의 전력이 있는 문제소년일 경우, 특히 집중적인 관리와 함께 문제점들의 치유를 위한 프로그램을 개발하여 이들이 보이는 이상성향을 제거 내지 감소시켜야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Many serial murderers are found to have a history of childhood frustration with experiences of arson and animal abuse. All of the serial murderers examined in this study had been seriously hurt by harsh abuse from their parents in childhood. As a result, to escape from this early-generated frustration they are seeking to commit arson animal abuse. In short, young people's arson or animal abuse has origin in their childhood frustration and both seem to have a significant correlation with serial murder cases. If this is true, leaving these young people uncared for would bring us a good chance of making them uncontrollable grown-ups with aggressive personality. Therefore, concerns of scholars and deeper studies are needed reguiring detailed examination of the correlation between childhood frustration, arson, animal abuse and serial murder arranged on a continuum. In addition, officials in correctional bodies including should try to eliminate or weaken the deteriorated inclinations of young people by developing treatment programs with intensive supervision, especially for those with problematic family backgrounds as well as experiences of arson and animal abuse.
