중비행 청소년의 아동기 부정적 생애경험에대한 고찰:최근의 국외 논의를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 전체 비행 청소년 중에서도 고위험군에 해당하는 소수의 중비행 청소년과 이들이 겪은 아동기 부정적 생애경험 간의 관계를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 문헌 고찰을 통해 청소년 비행 연구에서 단일 사건이 아닌 포괄적인 경험으로서 아동기 부정적 생애경험의 영향에 대한 국외의 접근 동향을 소개하고, 비행행동의 심각성과 흉악성, 상습성을 특징으로 하는 중비행 청소년의 특성에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 그리고 중비행과 경비행 집단 간의 비교에서 중비행 청소년들이 다른 집단보다 부정적인 생애경험을 상대적으로 더 많이 경험하고, 이들 경험이 이후의 중비행을 예측하는 것으로 나타난 최근의 연구 결과들을 정리하였다. 또한, 이러한 경험들 간의 상호 연관성, 그리고 아동기 부정적 경험과 청소년기 비행 간의 관계를 매개하거나 완충하는 요인들에 대한 연구들도 살펴보았다. 마지막에서는 국내 고위험군 비행 청소년의 처우 현장에서 아동기 부정적 생애경험 개념의 도입과 활용에 대한 소고를 담았다. 중비행 청소년 집단에서 불균형적으로 관찰되는 생애 초기 부정적 경험에 대한 이해는 이들의 재비행 방지를 위한 처우에 필수적이며, 따라서 국내에서도 계속적인 관심과 연구가 필요하다는 점이 결론으로 제시되었다.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and a small number of serious, violent, and chronic (SVC) juvenile delinquents. Recent studies on the effects of ACEs and characteristics of SVC offenders were introduced. Findings on the inter-relatedness of ACEs, mediating variables, and protective factors also were reviewed. A possibility of implementing the notion and measurement of ACEs in juvenile corrections and implications for policies were presented in the last section. In sum, understanding on the disproportionate prevalence of ACEs among serious delinquents is essential in juvenile corrections, and further interest and more studies on this matter are thus needed.
