Abstract

This study focuses on 5 domestic serial murder cases (6 murderers) since the year 2000, and it attempts to divide their aspects of the crimes into the organized category and the disorganized category according to the FBI’s dichotomic type theory. The analysis result as a part of the prior study on the murderers social and psychological state during their growth period indicates that most of them have experienced broken home, domestic abuses, and poverty, had previous convictions and didn t satisfy with their school life while many of them graduated a high school. As I categorize the type based on the analysis result, it shows that variables such as planning for the crime, preparation of tools used in the crime, selection of the victims, and extortion of money and goods were under the organized category, but variables including staging of the crime scene, destruction of evidence, disposal methods of bodies, and signature were classified under the mixture of the organized category and the disorganized category.
