푸코의 자기 배려의 방법론으로 본 유교적 여성과 신뢰의 윤리

이 연구는 유교 사회에서 이름없는 내부인으로 살았던 여성의 삶에 대한 일반적인 비판에서 벗어나 다른 시각을 통해 시대에 제약된 여성의 삶을 재조명해 보고자 한다. 특히 전통 유교 사회의 여성이 처한 사회적 환경으로부터 완전히 자유로울 수 없다는 점을 고려하여 자신에게 주어진 환경 속에서 자기 삶을 구축하기 위해 실천한 윤리적 방안들을 파악해 본다. 그로부터 한 사람의 인간, 윤리적 존재자로 자신의 위상을 전환하기 위한 유교적 여성의 실천적 행위들을 다시 평가할 것이다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 교차적 시선을 견지하고자 푸코의 가정관리술과 훈육의 방법론을 분석하여 유교 사회 속에서 여성들의 삶을 재조명하는 도구로 활용할 것이다. 그를 통해 윤리적 인간으로서의 실천이 신뢰성의 기반으로 작동할 수 있다는 것을 해명한다. 결과적으로 제약된 환경에서 자기 삶을 윤리적 요소들로 채우는 여성의 실천은 공동체를 유지하기 위한 노력이었고 신뢰를 구축하는 관계적 윤리의 한 주축이었다고 해석할 여지가 있다는 점을 밝힌다.
Abstract
This study sheds new light on issues that are different from previous critical studies on women in Confucian society. In particular, I will consider that women in traditional Confucian society cannot be completely free from the social environment they were faced. In that context, I try to identify the ethical measures they form to shape their lives in the environment given to them. This article will re-evaluate members of Confucian women in order to transform themselves into a human being. For this purpose, this study analyzes Foucault’s methods of household management and discipline to maintain an intersectional perspective and utilizes them as a tool to reexamine the lives of women in Confucian society. And it explains that the practices of Confucian women as ethical human beings functioned as a basis for building a kind of trust. As a result, it will be argued that women’s practice of filling their lives with ethical elements in a restricted environment was an effort to maintain community. Furthermore, this study reveals that it is possible to interpret Confucian women’s practical efforts as an axis of relational ethics that builds mutual trust.
