Abstract
This study divided the approaches for strategic decisions into the Causation approach and the Effectuation approach, and then analyzed the influence of each approach on the implementation of economic plans and the moderating effect of social entrepreneurship. I used data from the survey of the social enterprises that had participated in the Social Progress Credit (SPC) program. The results of the empirical analyses are as follows. First, both approaches - the Causation and the Effectuation - influence the implementation of the economic plans positively and significantly. Secondly, the relationship between the Effectuation approach and the implementation of the economic plans was moderated by the CEO’s social entrepreneurship level. Specifically speaking, the moderating effect was negatively significant showing that the influence of the Effectuation approach on the implementation of the economic plans was stronger when the CEO’s social entrepreneurship level was low than when it was high. Thirdly, the CEO’s social entrepreneurship level did not moderate the relationship between the Causation approach and the implementation of the economic plans. These research results suggest that the Causation approach, the Effectuation approach, and social entrepreneurship should be considered important factors in order that social enterprises can implement their economic plans more actively. Finally, this study academically contributed by empirically analyzing the conditional effect of the CEO’s social entrepreneurship in the relationship between two strategic decision approaches and the implementation of economic plans.
