Abstract
According to Apte's Sanskrit Dictionary O Mantra uttered as a holy exclamation at the beginning and end of a reading of the Vedas, or previous to the commencement of a prayer or sacred work. As a particle it implies respectful assent, acceptance, command, auspiciousness, warding off, Brahman. But in Buddhism O means a mother of all the mantras and a name of the head of the Buddha. And in Hinduism O is a name of Vi u. Like these O is used as a symbol of religion not only in Buddhism but also in Hinduism with Svastika(卍). Philological meaning of the O Mantra first appears as a sun or the original sun itself is laid in the sun or the soul of the sun through of the Vedic symbolism in Br hma as. In Upani ads Philological meaning of the O Mantra appears more in detail as the eternal, the past, the present, the future, containing all the times and at same time rises above the time itself, param tm , everything and the being is exists before the everything, the sacred syllable which is awakening man the divine nature. O Mantra appears in Yoga-Texts as the Puru a and is regarded as the object of the most profound yogic meditation. In Br hma as sun and the fire is laid in the sun are understood as a eternal being, in Upani ads all what has been, that which is and is to be is understood as a eternal being, and in Yoga-Texts the Puru a is understood as a eternal being, O Mantra appears as a eternal being like these on these texts. Conclusionally on the texts philological meaning of the O Mantra also appears differently, but the meaning of the O Mantra is same in the view of a symbol of the eternal.
