주제어와 대조초점 - 어순 및 강세와 관련하여 -

Abstract

-Nun of Topic and Contrast - On the Point of Word Order and Stress - Choi, Kyu-soo (Pusan National Univ.)-Nun in Korean has been discussed to be interpreted as Topic or Focus of Contrast, the former with non-stress in initial positions of the sentences, the latter with stress in any positons of the sentences. But I discussed -nun of Topic and -nun of Contrast are distinctly different on the functions and forms of marks of them.Contrastive -nun expresses the focus of the domain relation of selected terms and non-selected terms, it is within the scope with negation. Topic -nun, although it is supposed non-selected terms, is irrelevant to them, and is beyond the scope of negation.In Korean, the stress does not change the informational structure given the morphological mark and word order. Therefore, -nun of Topic cannot be interpreted as Contrast, although it is stressed.Because Topic plays an important roles to construct the structures of discourses, we have to consider it within them. -Nun of Topic, though it appeares as Contrast with stress when it is used isolately, cannot be done so in the discourses.
