인문주의 지리학의 인식론을 반영한 장소의 의미 부여 유형에 관한 연구

본 연구의 목적은 인문주의 지리학의 연구성과를 바탕으로 장소에 관한 인간의 의미 부여 유형을제안하는 것이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 우선 인문주의 지리학의 등장 배경과 특징을 검토한후, 인문주의 지리학을 바탕으로 장소감과 홈(home)의 의미를 밝힌다. 마지막으로 객관, 주관, 간주관과 같은 인간의 속성 그리고 의미 부여의 결과와 과정을 기준으로 장소의 의미 부여 유형을제안한다. 결론적으로 인간이 장소에 의미를 부여하는 행위의 유형은 다음과 같이 분류할 수 있다. 우선 경험한 장소에 관해 의미를 형성하는 과정에 주요하게 작용하는 인간의 속성에 따라 객관적인의미 부여와 주관적인 의미 부여로 분류할 수 있다. 또한 주관적인 의미 부여는 다시 간주관적인의미 부여와 완전히 주관적인 의미의 완(完)주관적인 의미 부여로 재분류할 수 있다. 나아가 인간이형성하는 장소에 관한 의미를 의미 형성의 결과로 보는가, 의미 형성의 과정으로 보는가에 따라전자는 지식으로 후자는 관점으로 세분할 수 있다. 따라서 상술한 객관적, 간주관적, 완주관적 의미부여의 세 범주는 각각 결과적 의미의 지식과 방법적 의미의 관점으로 나누어 정의할 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to propose a type of human meaning-giving to places based on the research results of humanistic geography. To achieve the research purpose, we first review the background and characteristics of humanistic geography, and then reveal the meaning of sense of place and home based on humanistic geography. Lastly, we propose types of meaning-giving to places based on human attributes such as objectivity, subjectivity, and inter-subjectivity, as well as the results and process of meaning-giving. In conclusion, the types of actions by which humans give meaning to places can be classified as follows. First, depending on the human attributes that play a major role in the process of forming meaning about an experienced place, it can be classified into objective meaning-giving and subjective meaning-giving. Additionally, subjective meaning-giving can be reclassified into inter-subjective meaning-giving and complete subjective meaning-giving. Furthermore, depending on whether the meaning of place formed by humans is viewed as a result of meaning formation or as a process of meaning formation, the former can be subdivided into knowledge and the latter into perspective. Therefore, the three categories of objective, inter-subjective, and complete subjective meaning-giving described above can be defined by dividing them into knowledge of the resulting meaning and perspective of methodological meaning, respectively.
