초록
This study focuses on the relationship between human resource localization and firm performance of Korean companies in China. Basis on a review of research literature, it classified localization standards of human resource into four aspects: localization of senior management, the local management’s involvement in decision making, localization of human resource policy and employee training program. In addition, there was an analysis about the relationship between human resource localization and financial and non-financial performance of the enterprises. There was a survey among one thousand Korean enterprises in China and 341 questionnaires were answered out of the companies surveyed, and the data was examined using regression analysis through SPSS 16.0 package. First, the result shows that there are the defining relations among companies’ financial performance and local management’s involvement in decision making and localized employee training program while localization of senior management and human resource policy have little influence on it. Second, regarding the relation between human resource localization and business non-financial performance, three variances including local management’s involvement in decision making, localization of human resource policy and employee training program have significant effects on non-financial performance. Lastly, regarding the relation between human resource localization and overall business performance in both financial and non-financial sectors, it was analyzed, like the preceding relation to non-financial performance, that three variances except localization of senior management have significant effects on overall financial performance. The study result suggests that Korean companies should examine the current strategy of human resources and strengthen human resource localization toward to the Chinese market.
