초록

The release of Tesla Model 3 got a hot response of market, and it made EV as the most potential candidate to change the industry paradigm. However Tesla still takes a weak position in China but local makers take control of the EV market. Among them BYD emerges as the most influential EV maker in China with centering on Shenzhen and Guangdong province. Geely also expands EV business rapidly on the basis of Hangzhou and Zhejiang Province by two Joint Ventures, Kandi and Zhidou. So this study tried to access the technology development path of BYD, Geely, Tesla and reviewed the relation between their EV businesses and the managerial performances. In addition this study made a comparative analysis for their EV business conditions from the corporate strategy perspective. As a result BYD and Geely began to step in a new path creating leapfrogs but they were still far way from the paradigm changing leapfrogs. Tesla shows a potential to be a trigger for paradigm change through Model 3, Giga factory, Supercharger network and Autopilot self-driving system. The stock price of Tesla is closely related with the market confidence on its potential for the paradigm changing which goes beyond the worry for continuous operating loss of it.
