초록
Light novel has been introduced to Korea in 1993 and really started acting in the market in 1996 and 1997, when Seoul Media Group and Haksan Publishings entered the light novel market. Korean-written light novels started to appear in the year 2000 and started growing rapidly in 2012. The biggest problem was that there are fewer professional writers than in Japan and that 90% of publishing and distributions are done by only three companies. Above all, to avoid the criticism on Korean light novels being an imitation of Japanese works, developing Korean-styled light novels is crucial. Trying to ostracize light novels just because it’s Japanese is difficult since it is widely and actively accepted by Korean teenagers. As everyone knows, the Korean wave is freezing up in Japan since President Lee Myeongbak visited the Dokdo islets, and anti-Japanese sentiment in Korea is increasing after Prime Minister Abe visited the Yasukuni Shrine. The cultural interaction has changed and developed through endless refusals and acceptances. After opening cultural exchanges in 1995, the two countries’ cultural interactions have increased and the relationship has rapidly improved. 20 years after the exchange, it is necessary to reminisce about directions on where the countries’ cultures should go, and find a way to interact with each other in such way to contribute to peace in northeast Asia.
