Abstract

This paper proposes a useful guidance of learning for Korean learners of classical Japanese language. In classical Japanese language education, it is necessary to understand the history and culture as well as extensive knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. With reference to some contemporary Japanese usages I tried to find a motivation for learning classical Japanese grammar. Therefore, as a start line of classical Japanese learning, classical Japanese verb conjugation chart which is considered in this paper has a close relation to contemporary Japanese verb conjugation chart. Description of a language is thought to have a completely different content d epending on various perspectives. I suggested a new curriculum for teaching classical Japanese grammar within a practical perspective of Japanese education. Thus, this paper shows the result from the morphological analysis based on traditional Japanese grammar analysis rather than from syntactic analysis based on a contemporary grammarian’s approach.
