데이터로 본 중국어 방언(漢語方言) 연구의 중심성: 한국 학계의 연구 동향

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze and synthesize trends in Chinese dialect research within the Korean academic community, based on 597 papers published between 1965 and June 2024. By employing text mining and keyword network analysis, the research visualizes trends across different research categories, chronological shifts, and regional distributions. The findings reveal that Chinese dialect research in Korea has predominantly focused on structural linguistic aspects such as phonology, grammar, and vocabulary, with a marked increase in research activity since the late 1990s. The early 2000s saw a rapid expansion of research, with key dialect regions such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Fujian provinces emerging as focal areas. Additionally, contrastive studies between Chinese dialects, Standard Chinese, and Korean have become significant research themes. Network analysis highlights that certain dialect regions and research categories serve as pivotal hubs within the research network, shaping the direction and interrelationships of the studies. This research underscores the growing academic significance of Chinese dialect studies in Korea, while suggesting that further in-depth exploration and investigation of less-studied dialects are necessary for advancing future research.
