Abstract

Penelitian Novel Senja di Jakarta Suatu Telaah Struktur This paper studies the structural aspect of Mochtar Lubis's novel "the Dusk of Jakarta" which depicts the Indonesian social aspects in the reportage and brought a social wave. The characteristic of this novel is that it found character, background, and incident are mutually associated to produce "satuan makna"(sense element) while "struktur naratif"(narrative structure) is processed in two form of "tubuh teks" and "laporan kota". It is noticed that these sense elements produce sense clusters, and these sense clusters are associated to form the "matriks"(matrix) and the "model". Through this, the novel "the Dusk of Jakarta" implies 'the filthiness, the corruption and the moral depravity of various social classes in Jakarta'.
