บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษากลวิธีภาษาที่แสดงความเป็นผู้หญิงในนิตยสารสตรีไทยระหว่างปีพ.ศ2449-2519. ได้แก่ กุลสัตรี สวนอักษร/สวนอักสร สตรีสาร ขวัญเรือน และหญิง ผู้วิจัยเก็บข้อมูลตั้งแต่นิตยสารเริ่มผลิตกระทั่งเลิกกิจการ เพราะยุคแรกของนิตยสารจะมีอายุประมาณไม่เกินหนึ่งปี ยกเว้น นิตยสารสตรีสารและนิตยสารขวัญเรือน ผู้วิจัยจะเก็บข้อมูลเฉพาะนิตยสารทั้งสองฉบับนี้จนถึงปี พ.ศ.2519 โดยวิธีสุ่มเลือกนิตยสารละ 12 ฉบับ ดังนั้นรวมข้อมูลที่ศึกษาทั้งสิ้น 46 ฉบับ ซึ่งผู้วิจัยจะเลือกวิเคราะห์เฉพาะบทความแสดงความคิดเห็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับผู้หญิงเท่านั้น ผลการวิจัยพบว่ากลวิธีภาษาที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ โครงสร้างของคำศัพท์ (Lexical Structure) การใช้อุปลักษณ์(Mataphor) การใช้สำนวน (Proverbs) และการใช้ทัศนภาวะ (Modality) ซึ่งจากกลวิธีภาษาทำให้เห็นความเป็นผู้หญิง ได้แก่ คุณสมบัติของการเป็นแม่บ้าน การทำหน้าที่เมียและแม่ ความสวยความงามเป็นเรื่องของผู้หญิง การเป็นผู้ถูกปกครอง และคุณสมบัติของการเป็นหญิงไทย ผลจากการวิเคราะห์ดังกล่าวยังสามารถสะท้อนให้เห็นอุดมการณ์ปิตาธิปไตยที่ครอบงำความคิดของคนในสังคมให้เชื่อวิถีปฏิบัติว่าเพศหญิงจะต้องอยู่ใต้อำนาจของเพศชาย
Abstract
This research aimed to study linguistic strategies which showed femininity in Thai women’s magazines as Kulasatri, Suan Aksorn/Suan Aksorn, Strisarn, Kwanruan and Ying in 1906 – 1976. The researcher collected data from the beginning of the magazines until their closures since at that time, life of an ordinary magazine did not exceed one year. Only Satrisarn and Kwanruan lasted longer so data of these titles was collected until the year 1976. 12 samples of each title were randomly selected so totally 46 issues were included and only commentaries regarding women were analyzed. The research found linguistic strategies commonly used were ‘lexical structure’, ‘metaphor’, ‘proverb’ and ‘modality’. These linguistic strategies showed good qualities of women as housewives, wives and mothers to be beautiful, obedient to men and to behave decently as Thai women. The findings also showed partriarchal ideology ruled the society to believe that women must be under men’s control.
