This thesis is concerned with a study of the metaphorical meaning of body part term ‘head’in Thai. The two aims of this study are to analyze the metaphorical meaning of body part term ‘head’ in Thai, and to determine how Thai conceptualize the metaphorical meaning of this term. The meaning of a word extends toward metaphorical direction; it generally extends from concrete meaning to abstract one. The data shows that the meaning extension of ‘head’ proceeds toward direction of ‘HUMAN > OBJECT > SPACE > TIME> CHARACTER in Thai.
