칸트는 수학적 지식을 직관에서의 구성에 토대를 두려 했다는 점에서 수학적 직관주의의 선구로 인식되고 있다. 이 글에서는 칸트의 직관 개념에 대한 고찰을 통해 칸트의 직관주의의 특징을 살피고 있다. 수학적 지식에 관해 오래 된 문제의 하나는 수학적 지식이 선천성을 지니고 있으면서도 경험적인 대상에 대해서도 적용가능하다는 사실을 설명하는 일이다. 이 글은 특히 수학에 관한 칸트의 철학이 아직도 그 문제를 해결하는 데는 미흡하다는 점을 논구하고 있다.
Abstract
Kant is regarded as forerunner of mathematical intuitionism which is revived in the 20th century in the sense that he attempted to found mathematical knowledge on construction “in intuition.” This paper considers the characteristic features of Kant's intuitionism by analysis of his notion of intuition and, in addition, some problems involved in his theory of mathematical objects.
