오늘날 한국 교회가 직면한 가장 큰 도전 중 하나는 한국 교회가 “콘스탄티 니안 교회,” 즉 교회와 세상을 구분하는 분명한 경계선을 가지고 있지 않은 교회가 되었다는 사실이다. 한국 교회가 진정한 교회로 거듭나기 위해서는 세례라는 렌즈를 통해 스스로를 다시 그려봐야 함이 필요하다. 이 논문은 Garrett Green이 제시한 ‘예증적인 상상’이라는 개념과 Bernard Cooke의 ‘한 공동체가 공유하는 다섯 가지’의 이해를 토대로, 큰 이야기, 정체성, 가치, spirit, 그리고 사명의 다섯 가지 영역에서, 교회를 개혁주의의 관점에서 세례 받은 자들의 공동체로서 설명한다. 이를 통해 ‘콘스탄티니안화’된 교회와 세 례 받은 자들의 공동체로서의 교회의 본질적인 차이를 보여준다. 이 논문은 만약 교회가 세례 받은 자의 공동체로서 스스로를 이해하고 실천하면, 교회 는 진정한 기독교 공동체가 될 수 있음을 주장한다.
Abstract
One of the most serious challenges Korean church is facing today is that the Korean church has become a “Constantinian church” without a clear boundary distinguishing itself from surrounding cultures. In order to be a genuine Christian church, the Korean church must re-imagine itself through the lens of baptism. While using Garret Green’s concept of “paradigmatic imagination” and Bernard Cooke’s idea of “five sharings in a community” as a framework, this paper describes the church as the community of the baptized in the areas of big story, identity, values, spirit, and mission from the Reformed Theological viewpoint. This paper then insists that if the Korean church would understand and practice itself as the community of the baptized, the church would become the genuine Christian community.
