Abstract
This paper starts from delivering Nick Couldry’s argument(2004), suggesting media should be re-positioned inside the idea of mediatization as a social system beyond the traditional concepts like that media is a separate object, tool or mediator. Thus, the consideration of media should be displaced by that of mediatization. In other aspects, mediatization as a holistic practical process is the liberation from old perspectives like media-centrism, textcentrism or anthropo-centrism, but at the same time it is the alienation of both human and media (technology) augmented by accelerated digital, smart environments and situations now. In this regard, this paper will introduce the concept of mediatization mainly from Couldry’s works together with the idea of pharmakon by technological philosopher Bernard Stiegler (2011). Through this, humans, media and environments will be discussed with their accompanying alienation issues located in the holistic system of mediatization.
