Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the perceptions of parent and director of child care centers about parent education. The subjects of the study were 94 parents who have 5 - year - old children who were in child care centers and 86 directors of child care centers. The questionnaire method was used to collect the data of this study. The results of the study were analyzed using SPSS 18 and Chi-square analysis and two paired t - test were used to find out the difference of perception between the parents and the directors. The results of this study are as follows. Parents and directors are differed in perceptions about the necessity of parent education and the perception of the directors is higher than the parents. Parents and the director 's perception of the subject of parent education is the development of language, emotional stability, physical development and exercise function, problem behavior and guidance, interaction method, interest and expression of child, solution of parental stress, Information on parents' hobbies and fellowship, education facility educational activities, educational facility events and communication matters. As for the method of operation, the parents and the directors of the child care centers differed. As for the method of operation, the parents and the directors of child care centers are differed in all items other than the day on which the parent education is conducted, frequency, the time, and the parent education instructor. Finally, there is a difference between parent and directors in terms of how to activate parent education that parents viewed development of helpful parent education program is the most effective way to promote parents’ participation, while directors recognized PR as the most effective way.
