본 연구의 목적은 시 정부와 군 정부를 각각 도시경쟁력의 관점에서 유형화하여 도시경쟁력이 높은 시 정부를 선별하여 선택된 시 정부와 통합이 가능한 군 정부를 새로운 시군통합 후보지로 선정하는 데 있다. 선행연구를 통하여 추출된 도시경쟁력 지표는 비교우위를 측정할 수 있는 지역할당 수식을 통해 계산되었는데 도시경쟁력이 제일 강한 시 정부는 도시경쟁력이 두 번째로 강한 군 정부 및 세 번째로 강한 군 정부와 통합이 가능할 것으로 판단되었으며 도시 경쟁력이 두 번째로 강한시 정부는 도시경쟁력이 역시 두 번째로 강한 군 정부와 통합이 가능할 것으로 분석되었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to select optimal candidates for municipal consolidations in Korea in terms of city competitiveness. To select optimal candidates for municipal consolidations cities and districts (guns) are classified respectively in terms of city competitiveness using the quantile map of GIS. The regional share function is used to calculate the level of competitiveness of each variable. It is analyzed that cities in the Cluster 1 which have the highest competitiveness can be consolidated with districts in Cluster 2 or Cluster 3, and cities in the Cluster 2 can be consolidated with districts in Cluster 2.
