다문화가정 청소년의 이중문화수용태도 변화궤적과 관련 요인에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구는 다문화가정 청소년의 이중문화수용태도의 변화궤적, 청소년과 어머니의 이중문화요인, 청소년의 심리정서적응(자아존중감, 우울, 사회적 위축) 간 구조관계를 탐색하였고, 이 관계에서 성차가 있는지를 추가적으로 검증하였다. 이를 위하여 한국청소년정책연구원의 다문화청소년패널(MAPS)의 2012∼2015년도 자료조사에 참여한 1,597명의 다문화가정 청소년과 그 어머니의 자료를 활용하여 잠재성장모형과 구조방정식모형 분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화가정 청소년의 이중문화수용태도의 변화궤적은 초등학교까지 증가하다가 중학교 입학 이후 감소하는 ∩모양의 비선형모형으로 나타났고, 초기치와 일차변화율에서 개인차가 확인되었다. 둘째, 구조모형분석 결과, 청소년의 국가정체성은 성장요인 모두에 그리고 청소년과 어머니의 문화적응스트레스, 어머니의 통합, 동화, 주변화 양상은 이중문화수용태도의 초기치에만 유의한 영향을 미쳤고, 이중문화수용태도의 초기치는 중학교 2학년 청소년의 심리정서적응에 유의한 영향을 나타냈다. 셋째, 잠재성장모형에서 성차가 있는지를 분석한 결과, 무조건 모형에서 여학생의 초기치가 그리고 조건모형에서 여학생의 문화적응스트레스가 이중문화수용태도의 초기치에 미치는 영향이 남학생보다 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 다문화가정 청소년의 이중문화수용태도의 종단적 변화와 이와 관련된 청소년과 어머니의 이중문화요인의 관계 그리고 그 관계에서의 청소년의 성차를 탐색하였다는데 그 의의가 있으며, 이러한 결과를 통해 연구의 시사점과 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the longitudinal changes and relevant factors of multicultural acceptability attitudes amongst multiethnic adolescents. The subjects comprised 1,597 multiethnic students and their foreign-born mothers, who participated in the Multicultural Children and Adolescents Panel Study(MCAPS) from 2012 to 2015. The data were analyzed by latent growth modeling using the M-plus program. Our results were as follows. First, the results showed that multiethnic students’ multicultural acceptability attitudes changed in non-linear ways over the four years and there were individual differences in intercepts and linear slope. Second, students’ national identity at the first time point affected intercepts, linear, and quadratic slopes of the latent growth model. Adolescents’ and their mothers’ acculturative stress, as well as mothers’ integration, assimilation, and marginalization tendency, assessed in 2012, influenced only the intercept of the latent growth model for multicultural acceptability attitudes. Additionally, the intercepts significantly affected the high scores of adolescents’ self-esteem and low scores of depression and anxiety, assessed in 2016. Third, girls’ intercept was significantly higher and the effect of girls’ acculturative stress on the intercept was greater than that of boys. The implications and limitations of this study were also discussed.
