고등학생의 학습동기와 진로개발역량에 대한 도전정신의 매개효과 분석: 학교유형별 차이를 중심으로

이 연구의 목적은 고등학생의 학습동기와 진로개발역량의 관계에서 도전정신의 매개효과를 규명하고 매개효과가 학교 유형에 따라 동일하게 나타나는지 확인하는 것이다. 본 연구는 교육부와 한국직업능력개발원의 초⋅중등 진로교육 현황조사(2019)에 참여한 고등학생 8,365명을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 SPSS 23.0을 활용하여 기술통계분석을 실시하고 변인 간 상관계수를 산출했다. 고등학생 전체 표본을 대상으로 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하여 도전정신의 매개효과를 확인했고, 추가적인 단계로 학교 유형(일반계, 특성화, 특수목적, 예체능)마다 별도의 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 고등학생의 진로개발역량과 학습동기 및 도전정신 간의 유의미한 정적 상관관계를 확인했다. 고등학생 전체 표본을 학생을 대상으로 했을 때 도전정신의 매개효과는 유의미하였으며, 학교 유형별 분석을 실시하였을 때 매개효과의 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 일반계 고등학교와 특성화 고등학교의 경우 도전정신이 학습동기와 진로개발역량을 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 예체능고등학교도 마찬가지로 부분 매개효과가 유의미하였지만 일반계와 특성화 고등학교에 비해 미미한 매개효과가 나타났다. 그러나 특수목적고등학교는 도전정신의 유의미한 매개효과가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구는 고등학교 학교 유형별로 도전정신이 진로개발역량에 미치는 영향을 다르게 해석할 필요성에 대한 의의를 제시하였고, 학생들의 특성을 고려한 진로지도를 해야 한다는 교육적 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the mediation effect of ‘challenge spirit’ in the relationship between the learning motivation and career development competency of Korean high school students and verify whether the mediation effect appears regardless of school types. This study was conducted on 8,365 high school students who participated in the Survey on the Status of Career Education for Elementary and Secondary Schools (2019) by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Vocational Competency Development Institute. Descriptive statistics and correlation coefficients were calculated using SPSS 23.0, and hierarchical regression analysis was performed for the whole student sample. Next, additional hierarchical regression analyses were performed separately for each type of school (general, vocational, specialized, and arts high school). Results showed a significant positive relationship among all variables. The mediation effect of challenge spirit applied to the whole sample, but differed according to school types. In case of general and vocational high school, challenge spirit partially mediated the relationship between learning motivation and career development competency. A comparatively smaller mediation effect was confirmed among the arts high school sample. The mediation effect was not significant in the specialized high school population. This study discussed the importance of different interpretation of the impact of challenge spirit on career development competency according to high school types. Also, educational suggestions were given on considering student characteristics in career guidance.
