통일신학 정립을 위한 개혁주의적 고찰: : 어거스틴(354-430)의 사상을 중심으로

한국 교회의 통일신학은 크게 보아 보수와 진보로 양분되어 있었다. 2000년대에 접어들면서 신학적으로는 성경 중심적인 보수적인 신앙을 견지하면서도 정치적 이데올로기에 치우치지 않고 균형있는 관점을 제시하려는 시도들이 나타나고 있다. 한국 교회 최대의 과제인 통일에 대해서 다수의 한국 교회가 일치된 목소리를 가지고 구체적이고 본격적으로 움직이지 못하고 있는 이유는 첫째로 한국 교회가 급격하게 세속화 되었고 무기력화 되었기 때문이며, 둘째로 한국의 다수 교회가 공감하며 따를 만한 통일에 대한 신학적 제시가 미흡했다는 것이다. 지금까지의 통일신학 연구들을 분석할 때 첫째로 통일신학을 정립하려고 하는 시도들은 다양한 세부 주제와 방법론을 가지고 지속적으로 진행되어 왔는데, 주로 하나의 신학적 틀로 통괄하려고 하는 시도가 많았다. 둘째로 그럼에도 불구하고 아직도 전체 교회를 아우를 수 있고 다양한 진영의 신학자들과 기독교 통일학자들이 합의함으로 지향할 수 있는 통일신학은 아직도 완성되지 못했다. 셋째로 그렇기 때문에 통일신학을 위한 모색은 신학적 합의와 실천적 성취를 위해서 앞으로도 계속 추구되어야 한다. 그러므로 다가오는 시대적 질문인 통일에 대한 신학적 대안을 찾기 위해 개혁주의 전통은 그런 문제들을 어떻게 다뤄 왔는지를 고찰하는 것이 중요하다. 특히 개혁주의 신학에 존재하는 통일신학적 요소들을 살펴보기 위해 본 고는 어거스틴(354-430)을 주목한다. 어거스틴은 기독교 신학 전통의 중심에 있기 때문이다. 어거스틴의 경우 통일신학의 요소로서 하나님의 도성과 지상의 도성과의 관계, 평화 사상, 국가론, 세상에 대한 그리스도인의 삶의 태도 등을 들 수 있다. 한반도의 평화는 하나님의 도성의 완전한 평화와 달리 상대적인 평화이지만 국가에 의해서 유지되어야 하며, 신국의 시민들은 이데올로기를 상대화 시키면서 지상에서 인내와 관용 속에서 종말론적인 삶을 살아가는데 여기에 통일 신학의 단초가 존재한다. 통일 신학은 한국 기독교인 전체가 동의하고 그 방향으로 움직일 수 있는 신학이어야 한다. 그러므로 개혁주의적인 통일신학은 신학적 특수성을 염두에 두면서도 동시에 보편성을 담아 내기 위하여 계속 통일신학을 세워가야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The reunification theology of the Korean church is largely divided into conservative and progressive. At the dawn of the 21st century, attempts at a balanced perspective of Biblically conservative faith unbiased by political ideology appeared. The greatest burden of the Korean church is the issue of reunification, yet there are several reasons for not able to move decisively with a united voice. First, there was the stupor of the Korean church as a result of secularism. Second, there was the lack of a theological direction on reunification which mainstream churches can agree to. Until now, the attempts to the formation of reunification theology primarily involved themes and methodology recapitulated in a theological framework. Second, the lack of agreement among theologians from various camps and Christian reunification scholars. Furthermore, the quest to reach theological agreement and practical solutions for the reunification theology must continue. Therefore, in search for a theological alternative, it is appropriate to consider how the Reformed tradition considered the matter. To undertake the 'reunification-theological' elements within the Reformed tradition, this study will observe the thoughts of Augustine (354-430). In Augustine's case, the 'reunification-theological' components may be the relationship between the City of God and city of man, ideas on peace, theory of the state, and life and attitudes of Christians in the secular world. Peace in the Korean peninsula in comparison to the City of God needs to be maintained by the state. In relativizing secular ideology and living an eschatological life in endurance and acceptance; in here lies the clue for a reunification theology. Accordingly, reunification theology should receive the agreement and move the Korean Christians in its entirety. Hence, a Reformed reunification theology should continue with the formation of reunification theology, considering both the theological speciality and universality.
