하이델베르크 신앙교육서에 나타난 성찬론: 75-82문답을 중심으로

본 논문은 하이델베르크 신앙교육서에 나타난 성찬론이 신학적으로 어디에 분류될 수 있는지 연구한 것이다. 하이델베르크 신앙교육서 초판은 128개문답으로 작성되었으나, 2판과 3판에 하나가 더 첨가되어 지금의 129문답이 되었다. 첨가된 것은 80문답이며 이것은 하이델베르크 성찬론의 신학적 성격을 분명하게 규정하려는 의도에서 작성되었다. 하이델베르크 신앙교육서의 성찬론은 개혁파 교리에 속하는 것으로 모든 개혁파 신앙고백서와 신앙교육서의 가르침과 거의 대부분 동일한 내용이다. 특별히 그것은 칼빈과 불링거가 작성한 취리히 일치신조의 성찬 교리와 일치한다. 하지만 성찬론과 관련하여 칼빈과 불링거는 아주 세세한 부분까지 일치하는 것은 아니다. 불링거 성찬 교리에서는 성령의 역할이나 그리스도와의 연합보다는 믿음의 필요와 역할이 더 강조된다. 반면에 칼빈의 성찬 교리에서는 믿음의 역할과 중요성이 인정됨에도 불구하고 믿음의 요소보다 성령의 역할과 성령을 통한 그리스도와의 연합이 훨씬 더 중요하게 취급된다. 하이델베르크 신앙교육서가 기독론에서 ‘엑스트라 칼비니스티쿰’을 가르친다는 점, 성찬론에서 성령을 통한 그리스도와 그리스도인 사이의 연합을 중시한다는 점, 에베소서 5장 30절의 인용을 인용한다는 점, 팔츠의 선제후 프리드리히 3세가 ‘칼빈주의’라 비난 받았다는 점 등을 고려할 때 하이델베르크 신앙교육서의 성찬론에 칼빈의 성찬론에 가장 가깝다고 볼 수 있기 때문에 ‘칼빈적’이라는 꼬리표를 붙이는 것은 정당하다.
Abstract
This article deals with the theology of the Heidelberg Catechism, especially the doctrine of the Lord's Supper. It is sure that the doctrine of the Lord's Supper in Heidelberg Catechism belongs to the Reformed theology and is in substantial accord with the other Reformed confessions and catechisms. Is it justified for the doctrine of the Lord's Supper in Heidelberg Catechism to be classified as the Reformed theology, especially as the sacramental theology of Calvin? In connection with the sacramental theology, the Heidelberg Catechism is best substantially the same with the Tigurinus Consensus(1549) drafted by Calvin in Geneva and Bullinger in Zurich. But the doctrine of two Reformers is not uniformed in a concrete explanation and stress. Acknowledging the role of the Holy Spririt in the Lord's Supper, Bullinger accentuates the faith to be necessary for eating the bread. Unlike him, Calvin lay most stress on the union with Christ(unio cum Christo) through the Holy Spirit who is his own Spirit, though he highly regards the role of faith for receiving bread and wine. In this article, I emphasized that it is right to attach a Calvinistic label to the doctrine of the Lord's Supper in Heidelberg Catechism. My argument is based on some points, namely Calvin's opinion “extra Calvinisticum” in christology of the Heidelberg Catechism, emphasis on the union with Christ, quotation of Eph. 5:30, and criticism of Friedrich III's Calvinist from the Lutheran theologians and politicians.
