초록

본 논문에서는 루터의 갈라디아서 해석을 살펴보았다. 루터의 갈라디아서 주석을 통해 구원이 필요한 인간, 율법의 위치, 하나님과 그의 말씀의 권위, 믿음과 행함의 문제, 그리스도의 공로의 의미, 은혜로 구원받은 자의 삶에 대한 루터의 관점을 고찰했다. 루터는 갈라디아서를 통해 인간은 구원이 필요한 연약한 죄인이며 율법이 아닌 복음으로 나아가 그리스도를 믿음으로 구원 받을 수 있음을 확인한다. 루터는 행위가 아닌 오직 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭다 함을 얻는 복음을 선포하지만 행함의 중요성을 간과하거나 약화시키지 않음에 본 논문은 주목하고 있다. 루터는 그리스도인의 구원과 선한 삶으로 인해 칭찬과 영광을 하나님과 그리스도에게 돌려야 할 것을 가르친다. 완전한 의미의 그리스도인은 내적으로 하나님을 향한 믿음을, 외적으로는 사람을 향한 사랑을 가진 사람이다. 그리스도인은 바른 복음을 굳게 지키고 믿음과 행함을 통해 세상을 구원하는 사명을 감당해야 할 것이다.

Abstract

This article examines Luther’s understanding of Galatians by way of interpreting Luther’s commentary on Galatians. The topics this article scrutinizes in Luther’s commentary are Luther’s understanding of human beings as sinners in need of salvation, the role of law, the authority of God and God’s word, the issue of faith and works, the meaning of Christ’s death on the cross, the life of christian who are saved by grace, etc. In Galatians commentary Luther points out that human beings are sinners without exception. Sinners can be saved by believing in Christ rather than relying on the law. According to Luther only faith in Christ justifies sinners before God. However, Luther’s theology of justification by faith alone does not diminish the value of christians’ good works. For Luther a christian in a total sense shows both faith and works in due course. Christians’ faith and works stem from the grace of God and Christ, not from their own efforts and power. Therefore Luther’s interpretation of Galatians results in the praise and glory of God and Christ. Korean christians should challenge the lost world by faith and good works as Luther interprets Galatians properly.
