알렉산드리아의 키릴로스의 주기도문 주석에 나타나는 해석학적 특징 : 기독론을 중심으로

초록

5세기 알렉산드리아의 주교였던 키릴로스에 대한 평가는 오늘날 매우 극명하게 나뉜다. 그는 그리스도의 신성과 인성의 관계를 정립하는데 있어서 가장 최전방에서 싸웠던 인물이다. 하지만 그가 보인 정치적인 잔혹함과 비열함 등의 이유로 인해 부정적인 인물로 평가되곤 한다. 이처럼 키릴로스에 대한 평가는 주로 역사적 상황과 관련되어 있으며 그에 대한 신학적인 연구는 네스토리오스와의 논쟁에 맞추어져 있다. 이러한 상황 속에서 필자는 키릴로스라는 인물에 대한 보다 근본적이고 객관적인 평가를 내리기 위해서 그의 작품들에 대한 연구의 필요성을 느꼈다. 그리고 그러한 필요에 의해 필자는 그의 누가복음 주석에 나타나는 주기도문 본문을 연구하였다. 또한 보다 객관적인 평가를 위해 키릴로스 이전 교부들의 주기도문 해석과 함께 비교 분석을 함으로써 키릴로스의 해석학적 특징들을 연구하였다. 이 연구를 통해 키릴로스는 단순한 정치적 인물이 아니라 성경 주석가로서, 특히 주기도문 해석에 있어서 기독론 중심적인 해석학적 특징을 보인다는 점을 밝힌다. 나아가 그의 주기도문 해석에는 예수께서 참하나님이시라는 것과 예수의 신성과 인성이 결코 분리될 수 없지만 신성을 더욱 강조하고 있는 신학적 특징들이 있다는 것을 연구하였다. 추가적으로 그의 주기도문 해석에는 문자적 해석과 예표론(모형론)적 해석, 그리고 요한신학과 바울신학 중심의 해석학적 특징들도 있음을 연구하였다. 이를 통해 키릴로스는 성경 주석가로서 다양한 해석 방법들을 사용하여 성경을 해석하였으며 예수의 신성을 중시하는 알렉산드리아 학파의 전통을 수용하고 있음을 밝힌다. 또한 네스토리오스와의 논쟁에서 키릴로스가 주장했던 기독론은 그의 성경 주석에서 일관되게 나타남으로 그는 정치적 목적보다는 기독론 중심의 성경 해석을 통한 신학적 신념에 따른 것으로 판단된다. 앞으로도 교부들의 주석들에 대한 연구가 더욱 활발해지고 그들이 남긴 신앙의 유산과 교부들에 대한 올바른 평가가 이루어질 수 있기를 바란다.

Abstract

The evaluation of Kyrillos, the Patriarch of Alexandria in the 5th century, remains highly polarized today. He played a prominent role in establishing the relationship between Christ's Divinity and Humanity, yet he is often seen in a negative light due to reasons such as political cruelty and meanness. The assessment of Kyrillos's character is largely intertwined with the historical context. Furthermore, Kyrillos's studies are predominantly centered on his debates with Nestorios. In this context, I undertook a study of Kyrillos's interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer to offer a more objective evaluation of his character. Additionally, I explored Kyrillos's hermeneutic approach by comparing his interpretation of the Lord's Prayer with that of earlier Fathers who were active before him. Through this study, I aim to demonstrate that Kyrillos was not solely a political figure but also a biblical commentator, showcasing a Christology-focused hermeneutic approach in his interpretation of the Lord's Prayer. Furthermore, I reveal in his interpretation of the Lord's Prayer that he affirms Jesus as a true God and emphasizes the inseparability of Jesus' divinity and humanity, albeit with theological nuances that highlight divinity. I also examined his interpretations of the Lord's Prayer, finding both literal and typological approaches, drawing hermeneutic inspiration from the theologies of John and Paul. This analysis uncovers that Kyrillos approached the Bible in diverse ways as a biblical commentator and upheld the tradition of the Alexandrian school, which emphasizes the divinity of Jesus. Moreover, in the context of his debate with Nestorios, Kyrillos's Christology remains consistent with his biblical commentaries, suggesting that his theological beliefs were rooted in a Christology-focused biblical interpretation rather than driven by political motives. I hope that this study will invigorate future research on the commentaries of the Fathers and lead to a more accurate assessment of their contributions.
