Abstract

Despite the high youth unemployment rate, turnover of the youth has recently emerged as a social problem. Therefore, in this study, mentoring and organizational socialization are proposed as factors that can lower the turnover rate of new employees. That is, this study empirically analyzed the relationship between mentoring function, organizational socialization, and turnover intention. To this end, a survey was conducted, and a hier￾archical regression analysis was performed to test the hypothesis. The results are as follow. First, role model function and social-psychological function had a significant pos￾itive(+) effect on organizational socialization. Second, among mentoring functions, career development function had a significant positive(+) effect on turnover intention, and role model function and social-psychological function had a significant negative(-) effect on turnover intention. Lastly, organizational socialization partially mediated the relationship between role model function and social-psychological function, and turnover intention. This suggests that the mentoring function is very important to lower the turnover rate of new employees and that organizational socialization should be made through mentoring.
