Abstract
Considering the growing interest in the climate crisis and climate risk, this paper analyzed the impact of Environmental Policy Stringency on the macroeconomy. The analysis was conducted by dividing OECD countries into subgroups (Asia, America, and Europe) using the EPS (Environmental Policy Stringency) indicator. In addition, panel VAR models were constructed to analyze the impact of EPS indicators on macro-economic variables through IRF. As a result, it was confirmed that the EPS index significantly affected macro-economic variables, although there were differences by subgroup. This confirmed that the stringency of environmental policy can affect the macroeconomy through various channels. Building on these findings, future research should delve into the development of macroeconomic policies that effectively address the climate crisis and climate risk.
