초기 구사조시(草双紙)에 나타난 산쇼다유(山椒太夫) -주요 등장인물과 이야기 변형을 중심으로-

Abstract

The Sanshoudayu legend had passed down orally in various areas of Japan since the Heian Period. There were several versions of the legend depending on the areas. As time went by, this story was at first recorded in written language in the form of Setkyoubushi in the Edo Period. In the Edo Period, a movement germinated the so-called era of pop culture. The Sanshoudayu legend was also taken as material for printing books in the Edo period. Among the books, however, there isn’t much research on Kusazoushi based on the Sanshoudayu legend. Before Mori Ougai’s novel and Mizoguchi Kenji’s movie, which made this story more famous in Japan’s modern period, this story also clearly existed in Edo-Gesaku. This study focuses on representative Early-Kusazoushi taking the Sanshoudayu’s world. Three Kurohon(made by black cover) works show that there are some changes and adds in characters and story with keeping the original one almost intact. Among them, the most remarkable aspect of parody is the appearance of notion of loyalty, which stems from the Edo society. After all, the legend existed orally and was passed down and written in text was reborn in the form of pictures and written language through Early-Kusazoshi at first with harboring the new features of loyalty in the Edo society.
