日韓それぞれの語彙体系の中で、漢語と外来語の占める割合は高く、近代以降には日韓中の語彙交流が現代語の成立に影響を及ぼしたこともあって、日韓の間には共通語彙が多く存在し、総体的に見ても両者は高い類似性を示す。その一方で、語彙の相違性も無視できないほど多く観察できることは言うまでもない。 本稿は、その類似性と相違性が反映されていると思われる語彙レベルを基に、現代日韓の語彙体系における漢語と外来語の位置づけを行った上で、日韓の語彙レベルを相互に比較しいくつかのグループに分類し、そのグループの特徴をさぐってみた。グループ分けは日韓の語彙レベルが類似したグループ(1グループ、語彙レベルによってはさらにa, b, cに分ける)と2つ以上の語彙レベルが異なるグループ(2グループ、3グループ)、それから韓国語の語彙表には出現しないグループに分類を試みた。各グループには外来語と品詞の比率の観点からそれぞれの特徴が見られた。さらに、この特徴付けを利用すれば、1グループは日韓共通の語彙レベル別に、2グループと3グループは対照言語学の調査対象や目的(韓国人あるいは日本人の語彙教育など)別に特徴語彙を抽出することが可能となることを示した。
Abstract
Sino-Koraen/Japanese words and loanwords account for a large proportion of the vocabulary of Korean and Japanese. After the Modern Era, lexical interactions among Korean, Japanese, and Chinese have affected the formations of our contemporary expressions. For these reasons, Korean and Japanese possess a number of common expressions, and in general, the two languages display high similarities in this respect. On the other hand, a number of vocabulary differences also find themselves in the two languages. In the present study, based on the vocabulary level which reflects such similarities and differences, we contextualize Sino-Korean/Japanese words and loanwords in the vocabulary system of contemporary Korean and Japanese, and provide a comparative classification of the vocabulary levels of the two languages as well as the characterization of each group in the classification. “Group 1” is set out on the basis of the vocabulary common to the two languages (with further three-way subdivisions). In “Group 2” and “Group 3,” more than one vocabulary level differs between the two languages. Finally, “Group 4” includes Japanese expressions lacking in a Korean counterpart. Each group exhibits specific characteristics in terms of the proportion of loanwords and part-of-speech. Furthermore, it is shown that these characteristics enable us to extract the set of Group-1 expressions in accordance with the vocabulary level common to Korean/Japanese and also to extract the set of Group-2/3 expressions in accordance with research objects of contrastive linguistics as well as more practical objectives (such as vocabulary education for the Korean and the Japanese).
