태국인의 한국어 발음에 관한 연구

The Korean language and the Thai language are not close to each other in linguistic relationship and their linguistic characteristics are different. Pronunciation is also very difficult area for Thai people to learn the Korean language due to the phonetic and phonological differences between the Korean language and the Thai language. This research described and analyzed what problems exist in the pronunciation of Thais and presented more effective ways of teaching pronunciation. In research methodology, the phonetic systems of the Korean language and the Thai language were compared and phonological differences were grasped and comparative analysis on them was conducted. By analyzing the actual pronunciation of the students majoring in the Korean language in Thailand and based on this, this researcher examined what problems existed. The research results showed that the pronunciations of the Korean language that is difficult for Thais to pronounce are the beginning consonants [c], [k], [s], the ending consonants [l], and vowels [ø], [μa], [yç]. Phonological changes including consonant assimilation do not exist in the Thai language, so there were many errors for Thais to pronounce these. In order to overcome such problems and to learn the Korean language pronunciation, separate teaching materials prepared in consideration of the errors arising when Thai people pronounce are needed, and it is considered to be important to teach these teaching materials in the early stage and operate pronunciation clinic so as to learn proper pronunciation of the Korean language from the beginning.
