다종교 상황에서 본 트뢸치의 문화통합의 현재적 의미

초록

본 연구는 한국의 다종교 상황에서 ‘문화적’ 혹은 ‘사회적’ 통합을지향하는 종교간 만남과 종교적 실천에 대한 구체적 과제와 방법을 모색하는데 있다. 그 과제를 위해서 독일의 문화철학자 에른스트 트뢸치의 “문화통합”1)을 연구했다. 그의 “문화통합”은 ‘유럽적 종교사’를 기반으로 하고, 유럽적‘문화종교’를 중심으로 하는 다양한 문화가치를 통합적으로 인식하고 구성하는학문적 시도이다. 또한 교회중심적인 문화구성원리를 비판하면서, “우리존재”(Unser eigenes Dasein)2)를 기반으로 하는 새로운 의미의 윤리적인 문화가치의 통합을 지향한다. 한편으로, ‘유럽적 문화사’는 유럽인들 사이에 공유된 역사적 현실성으로서 종교적 “우리존재”의 발현과정에 대한 인식의 결과이다. 다른 한편으로, 트뢸치의 ‘문화통합’은 종교의 사회학적 본질로서 “우리존재”의 구체적 현실성으로서 나타난다. “우리존재”에 대한 트뢸치의 인식은 다른 문화에 존재하는 ‘문화종교’에 대한 인정과 동시에 유럽 안에 존재하는 ‘이웃종교’와의 타협과 공존의 방법을 모색하게 된다. 그러므로 본 논문은 트뢸치의 이웃종교에 대한 인정, 타협과 공존의 모색이 한국적인 다종교 상황에서의미가 있음을 보여주려고 한다. 먼저 한국적 신학은 ‘한국적’이라는 표현 안에 다양한 종교적 가치를 함축할 수 있는 가능성을 보여준다. 한편으로, 서구적 기독교와 구분되는 한국적 기독교의 정체성을 인식하면서, 동시에 한국 전통종교와의 관계에서 ‘한국적 종교사’를 기반으로 하는 ‘우리존재’의 현실성에대한 인식을 한국의 종교적인 정체성 인식의 과제로서 제시한다. 다른 한편으로, 트뢸치의 “문화통합”은 한국의 다종교적 상황에서 개별적인종교들이 배타적인 자기중심적 태도에서 벗어나 종교적인 교제적 관계에서서로를 인정하고 때로는 공존하고 타협하면서 연대를 추구하는 실천적 과제를 제시한다. 더 나아가 우리는 그의 “문화통합”에서 한국교회와 유럽교회의만남과 교제를 문화신학의 핵심적인 과제로 인식할 수 있다.

Abstract

This Study is aimed to evaluate Ernst Troeltsch’s cultural synthesis for the meaning of religionstheology. His central thesis is that the European religious history implies religious and cultural identity of European and the European with this identity constitute various religious communities. First, with concept of religious history as the principle of cultural synthesis tries Troeltsch to constitute whole history of european culture and to recognize a synthetic religiousness of christianity in european culture. Indeed, his synthetic religiousness is christian, but today in the pluralistic culture ist to constitute as pluralistic religiousness of various religions in european culture and in other culture. For the purpose of constitution of pluralistic religiousness emphasizes Troeltsch not only the recognition of religious identity of christianity, but also the acknowledgement of other religions and their Truth. Second, Troeltsch regards the basis of european religious history as ‘our Being’. The Concept of ‘our Being’ by Troeltsch is not only the reality of our synthetic religiousness, but also the reality of solidarity of religions people in the european culture. With the Concept of ‘our Being’ develops Troeltsch the european Theology. According to Troeltsch, European Theology can be regarded as the Cultural Theology of Europe by many theologian. Third, European Theology has not a exclusive attitude against the other religions,but try to compromise und associate with other religions for social solidarity und cooperation. Troeltsch maintains that, the christian and the people of other religions must acknowledge difference between the christian truth and the other religions, and this is the realization of the social essence of religions. Finally, Troeltsch’s cultural Synthesis, european religious History and european Theology show us, that asian culture and korean culture have the same work for the reconstruction of the religious History and their cultural Theology.
