평담(平淡)사상을 기초로 한 조선시대 화조화의 담채법(淡彩法) 연구: 심사정의 화조화를 중심으로

근대이후의 서구 미술교육의 확장과 수채화의 도입은 전통미술의 담채법에 관한 심도 깊은연구를 미약하게 하는 결과를 가져왔다. 하지만 전통회화에서 담채는 담채법에 의한 채색법과 수묵담채로 나타나며, 맑게 선염하는 담채법은 미학적으로 평담의 정신을 내포하고 있어그 의미와 가치를 밝힐 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 조선시대 화조화의 미학적 기준으로 작용하였던 평담사상에 관하여 고찰하기 위하여 평담사상의 유래와 사상적 배경을 살펴보고 화론에나타난 평담사상을 살펴보았다. 또한 이러한 평담사상을 기초로 조선시대 화조화를 중심으로한 담채법을 살펴보았다. 평담사상을 바탕으로 형성된 담채법을 살펴보기 위하여 평담사상과수묵담채법의 형성과정을 살펴보고 이러한 수묵담채법이 조선시대 화조화에서는 어떤 배경하에 형성되었는가를 고찰하였다. 또한 조선시대 화조화에서 나타난 담채의 형성 배경과 특성을 고찰하였으며 이러한 조선시대 화조화의 구체적 예시로 심사정의 화조화를 살펴보았다. 심사정의 화조화에서 담채는 극치를 이루며 나타났으며, 평담의 미학을 잘 보여주고 있어 조선시대 화조화에 나타난 담채의 가치와 의미를 밝히는데 적절한 예시가 될 수 있다. 이러한조선시대 화조화의 담채법과 평담사상에 관한 고찰로 심도 깊은 전통 담채법의 이해와 담론의 확장을 도모하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다.
Abstract
Recently research has been conducted on the effects on western methods ofrecognition based on traditional painting centralized upon deep-color pigmentpainting or watercolor. However, research in Ink wash Painting which is part oftraditional art requires further research due to the miniscule amount of researchthat has been conducted on the topic so far. Thus, this study aims to shine alight on the evidence regarding the idea of Pyong-Dam which is theoreticallybased upon Ink Wash painting and research pieces to further explore thecharacteristics and significance of Ink Wash Painting. In order to do so the one must first of all explore the oriental ideologies. InPyong-Dam was used for the first time in Figure Commentary written by YuSo, and considering the oriental ideology the meaning of the idea of Pyong-Damcan be more clarified. Confucianism, also hold evidence of the idea ofPyong-Dam. In Confucian ideology lucidity is the greatest grace in showing ahuman’s characteristics. To show that Ink Wash Painting was an important characteristic inflower-and-bird painting artist of Chosun Dynasty, Sim Sajung were selected. Uponthe famous flowers and birds paintings is Jung Sun, famous for its lucent color. Sim Sajung was a famous artist of the flowers and birds painting, Through thisobservation of this artist a simple Ink Wash Painting is apparent. Through this study of Ink Wash Painting based on the idea of Pyung-Dam Iexpect to expand an understanding of traditional art and bring diverse changes totraditional art education.
