Abstract
Lee, Suk-eui. 2006. Upper concept classification for the semantic network construction of Korean verb. The Journal of Studies in Language 22.1, 131-153. The purpose of this paper is to propose a classification way of Korean verbs for construction of semantic network. In this paper, the methodology for sense classification of vocabulary is explained and showed the way of sense discrimination in CoreNet (of KORTERM) which is Korean vocabulary semantic network. For building a semantic network for Korean verb, it is necessary to reconstruct the conceptual hierarchy. Method of classification for verbs depends on the activity of the first argument and passivity of verb. Basically verbs are divided into two categories, 'activity' and 'actual state'. Activity category is classified into three classes, 'physical', 'mental' and 'social activity'. Actual state category is divided into two parts, natural and non-natural phenomena.
