There are various conditions that have been proposed to license distributivity in the literature: a plurality condition, a non-strong-definiteness condition, a cardinality condition, and a distinctness condition. The main claim of this paper is that all the conditions follow from the pluralization operator that generates distributivity. More specifically, the plurality condition comes from the fact that distributivity is a two-sum operation. The non-strong-definiteness condition and the distinctness condition both are motivated by plurality being multiplicity. The cardinality condition also comes from the fact that group formation occurs when pluralization has to apply to apparently plural predicates. My claim simplifies the grammar significantly since the conditions are claimed not to be stated independently.
