초록

This paper provides an optimality-theoretic analysis of blends in Korean, such as /kɨmkjəpsal/ (< kɨmkaps + samkjəpsal) and /lekʰaŋsɨ/ (< lecə + pakaŋsɨ). I propose that blending is a case of prosodic morphology in Korean, and show that the phonological shape of a blend is regulated by the interaction of such constraints as AlignEdge, Max-SyllHead and Dep-SyllHead. In addition, I propose that the Shared Segment Constraint (SharedSegCon), which requires that a blend should preserve the overlapping identical sound portion shared by the source words, drives the apparent surface variations of blends resembling allomorphy.
